New beginnings are always hard

I’m Irma. For over 15 years I have been working with young people and adults who have been survivors of abuse. Many have aversion to that word, find it unacceptable, and uncomfortable.

It is easier to close our eyes and pretend that abuse is not happening.

It is more pleasant to watch Netflix and shove our heads into a sofa in our beautiful safe four walls.

If you are one of the survivors, and I say survivors, not victims, as I believe that all of us who lived to tell the tale are survivors! I am no victim!

When you live with abuse every day, whether it happened before or is happening right now, for that person there are no safe four walls, there is no safe place on this earth to hide.

This is why I started this whole thing. To raise awareness, to shout out to all of you who feel sad, hurt, broken and misunderstood. To say that I hear you, that I’ve been there and survived. I managed to heal, I managed to recover and that I did rise. Like a Phoenix from the ashes!

My hope is to be able to answer your questions and help you on your journey of recovery.

I know it is hard, but you are not alone!
